Dates: Dates will be announced in January 2020
Custom retreats can also be arranged for groups of 4 or more*
This retreat is designed for individuals working in the helping professions (health care, education, law, spiritual care, etc.) who are entering or in the midst of professional transition.
Are you starting a new job or do you want to make the most of a new opportunity? Leaving a position you’ve been in for many years? Have you trained for and worked in a profession that no longer seems to ‘fit’ you? Are you facing retirement or ‘the next step’ without clarity on how to begin? Are you wondering if it’s time to try something new?
Whether you are experiencing 'calling' mixed with uncertainty, an identity-challenging change, or a growing restlessness to act despite an obscured view of the next step, this retreat can help you in the process. We'll use individual reflection exercises and group coaching to provide opportunities for you to seek clarity about the next step and how to navigate transition with purpose and confidence.
Reflection: To provide space to reflect upon and examine what is essential
Adventure: To nurture a spirit of adventure, self-confidence, shared community and respect for our natural world.
Clarity: To align personal values and vocation and foster a more profound sense of purpose
The retreat involves three and a half days of backcountry backpacking and camping in the Rocky Mountains or other remote and rugged terrain.
Prior to the retreat, participants will be given the opportunity to explore their own unique preferences regarding change and transition through an MBTI (Myers Briggs) assessment and coaching debrief.
During the retreat, group coaching and guided silent reflection will be used to foster clarity of purpose, examine personal values and professional goals, and develop useful knowledge of ‘transition’
Participants will be provided with resources and experience tools that support the deepening of personal resilience and wellness.
Although the retreat is beneficial in its own right, the wilderness experience is only meant to be a first step in your process; coaching sessions (conducted via telephone) over the three months following the retreat will help you move forward with ideas and insights gained during the weekend. These coaching sessions are tailored for those who have been on the retreat.
The cost of the retreat includes food and applicable taxes.
This cost does NOT include individual coaching after the retreat. Those fees are extra and function on a sliding scale. If you would like to add this option to your registration, we will work with you to design an affordable package.
Participants must provide their own backpacking equipment (packing list will be provided)
Participants should be comfortable in and traveling through the backcountry. (If you have questions about the level of fitness or familiarity with backcountry travel required to participate, please contact us.)
Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from the trail-head.
Participants must be willing to engage in self-reflection and to help foster a safe, respectful and positive group experience for others.
If you and your team are about to enter a time of transition in your work context, or if you and several others in your professional network are having similar conversations about careers, ‘what’s next?’, or ‘feeling stuck’, we can work with you to organize a retreat to suit your group’s needs and schedules. Contact us for availability and custom group rates.
Deadline: Space is limited, so register early to secure a spot.
Deposit: To guarantee a place on the retreat a $150.00 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of registration. The deposit is applied toward your retreat fees. Full payment of fees is required no less than 30 days before the start of the retreat. Please read the important registration information.
This retreat requires a minimum of 3 participants to run and is limited to a maximum of 8. In the event of insufficient registration numbers, the retreat will be cancelled and registered participants will be reimbursed fees paid.
